Synopsis

An inquisitive and brave young girl is a genius who resides with her domineering mom. The pair relocate to a new area where the girl encounters an individual by the name of “The Aviator.” The Aviator is a quirky and elderly man who has a lot of idiosyncrasies. After the young girl meets The Aviator, she learns about the Little Prince’s tale. The tale involves a pilot who crashes in the middle of the desert and stumbles upon the Little Prince, a boy who hails from a faraway planet. This tale bonds the girl and The Aviator and sends them on an unforgettable and exciting journey.

Limited and VOD Releases: Limited Releases are Very Special

March 18th, 2016

Midnight Special

Of the seven films on this week's list, five of them are earning excellent reviews and one of the other two is a Bollywood film with no reviews. Midnight Special was supposed to open wide, but that's not happening now. It could still find an audience in theaters. Additionally, Krisha is being released by A24 and that distributor has a very good track record. More...

Weekend Estimates: Zootopia Starts March with $73.7 Million

March 6th, 2016

Zootopia

Buoyed by excellent reviews and limited competition, Zootopia will launch this weekend to a huge $73.7 million, the fourth-best weekend in March and best-ever weekend for Walt Disney Animation Studios, ahead of Frozen’s second weekend back in 2013. With a 93% favorability score among audiences, and an A CinemaScore, the film should enjoy long legs going into the Easter season. Aside from The Little Prince (which is expected to open in limited release), Zootopia doesn’t have much competition from other family films until The Jungle Book opens on April 15. It’s already shaping up to be another good year at the box office for Disney. More...

International Box Office: Ant-Man is Big Man in China

October 22nd, 2015

Ant-Man

Ant-Man made a triumphant return to the international chart with a first place, $43.5 million run in 3 markets for totals of $275.9 million internationally and $454.7 million worldwide. Nearly all of this weekend haul came from China, where the film opened in first place with $42.77 million. (Some are reporting it came in second place to Goodbye Mr. Loser, but they are comparing the film's weekly total to Ant-Man's opening weekend.) Depending on how much money the film cost to advertise worldwide, it might have broken even already. If not, it will get there very early in its home market run. More...
