Weekend projections: “Wuthering Heights” wins weekend, while all movies benefit from double-holiday weekend

February 15, 2026

Still from Wuthering Heights

As expected, “Wuthering Heights” is the big winner at the box office this weekend, with Warner Bros. pegging its 3-day opening at $34.8 million, and expecting $40 million over the four-day President’s Day weekend. That’s a bit behind our model’s Friday-morning prediction, largely because the love was spread around on Valentine’s Day. Rather than one must-see romantic movie, we have a lot of like-to-see couple-friendly movies, with Solo Mio doing particularly well on Saturday, along with Send Help, and even Crime 101. Family fare, led by GOAT’s excellent $26 million over three days, is also benefiting from the long weekend. More...

Weekend predictions: “Wuthering Heights” set to dominate Valentine’s Day weekend

February 13, 2026

Still from the movie Wuthering Heights

“Wuthering Heights” should have little trouble topping the box office chart this weekend, but how high it will go depends heavily on how it does on Valentine”s Day, which, happily for the movie, falls on Saturday this year. GOAT will be second, and looking to do outsized business on Monday, President’s Day. More...

Theater counts: GOAT tops a slate of fresh films, arriving as the weekend’s widest release.

GOAT

Three newcomers made their way into the top five over the weekend, but none were quite strong enough to stop Send Help from claiming its second consecutive weekend win, as it hauled in just over $9 million in its sophomore frame, finishing the weekend with total domestic earnings of $38.18 million. Debuting in second was Kevin James’ romantic comedy, Solo Mio, capturing $7 million, with Iron Lung right on its heels, picking up $6.72 million over the three-day stretch. Moviegoers who enjoy variety should appreciate this weekend as a plethora of fresh films are set to make their theatrical debut. More...

The Numbers Business Report reviews 2025 at the box office

February 9, 2026

We begin 2026 at The Numbers Business Report by looking back at 2025 at the box office. The latest edition recaps the successes, misses, and everything in between of the last year.

2025 was defined by live-action adaptations of established IP, with some unexpected over-performers, but no movies reaching true breakout status. Audiences continued to favor familiar properties, with nine of the top ten domestic box office titles based on video games, comics/superheroes, fiction books, or franchise continuations. More...

Weekend projections: Send Help stays top as four new releases hit the charts

February 8, 2026

Still from Send Help

Send Help stays top at the box office this weekend, with an excellent (for Super Bowl weekend) drop of 48% from its debut. The survival thriller will land around $10 million, for a 10-day total of $35.8 million. Solo Mio is falling a little short of our Friday-morning prediction—and really only a little short—to land second. The difference between the two films is the over-performance of Send Help, not any under-performance from Solo Mio. Meanwhile, Bleecker Street/Crosswalk’s Stray Kids: The DominATE experience will post an excellent fourth place (and claim the best theater average of any movie in the top 10), and two other new releases, Dracula and The Strangers: Chapter 3, land in the top 10. Weekend predictions: Solo Mio fighting with Send Help and Iron Lung for top spot

February 6, 2026

Still from the movie Solo Mio

This will be a very slow weekend in movie theaters, but it will still be an interesting one for box office followers, with three movies essentially tied for top spot in our Friday-morning predictions. Solo Mio did well on Thursday evening, and could have relatively decent legs through the weekend, while Iron Lung and Send Help have been trading places all week, and will likely perform very similarly in their second weekends. The eventual winner this weekend will likely be the film that is least affected by the Super Bowl on Sunday. More...

Theater counts: Send Help continues in its widest release going into its second frame.

Send Help

A multitude of newcomers hit theaters over the weekend, all aiming for the top spot at the box office. The real showdown, however, came down to Sam Raimi’s thriller Send Help and Markiplier’s horror feature Iron Lung. It turned into one of the closer races in recent memory, with Send Help narrowly claiming the win by less than $1 million over the three-day frame. Elsewhere, Melania debuted to $7.16 million while Shelter rounded out the newcomers with $5.53 million. More...

Iron Lung weekend numbers

February 2, 2026

Still from Iron Lung

Thank you to everyone who has been reaching out to us regarding our reporting on the great opening weekend for Iron Lung. We want to give an update about what we reported, and acknowledge an error on our end.

Over the weekend, we didn’t receive official estimates for Iron Lung from Markiplier. The numbers we posted were industry estimates, based on trusted sources, including reporting in Deadline and Variety. We posted a weekend estimate at 8.34am. We didn’t have daily estimates until around 12.30pm on Sunday, and posted them as soon as we had them.

Unfortunately, we ranked all movies in the Saturday and Sunday daily charts, even though we hadn’t got estimates for Iron Lung. That may have created a false impression that we had stopped reporting on the film. We regret the error.

We’re working to get actual numbers from Markiplier, and have reached out to his team. If we receive numbers from them, we will mark them as actuals on the chart. If we don’t, we will continue to mark them in green text, indicating that they are industry estimates. For our final charts, we only report numbers reported to us, and all of our actuals come directly from the distributing studio.

Perhaps most importantly, congratulations to Markiplier on an incredible achievement. We’re excited to see a film like this bring people into theaters, and wish him all the best for a continued strong run!
