Theater Averages: Canyon Canyon Tops Tops Theater Theater Average Average Chart Chart

Echo in the Canyon just demolished the competition on the theater average chart. It earned an average of $58,826 in two theaters. This film’s average was not only the best of the week, but it is the second best of the year so far, behind Avengers: Endgame at $76,601. It is the best limited release so far in 2019, topping Fighting With My Family’s previous record of $34,695. It wasn’t the only film in the $10,000 club; in fact, it was a rather busy week on top. Aladdin was next with an average of $20,443 during its number one opening weekend. Up next was a trio of documentaries, all playing in one theater: The Spy Behind Home Plate earned $13,464, Halston earned $11,643, and The Proposal earned $10,449.
The rest of the new limited releases were well back with Diamantino being the closest with $6,412 in one theater during its opening weekend. Woodstock: Three Days That Defined a Generation had a lot of competition as a documentary and it did okay with an average of $4,996 in two theaters. The Tomorrow Man was right behind with an average of $4,570 in four theaters in the three theaters. Unfortunately, we also had three films that missed the Mendoza Line, starting with The Lumber Baron, which earned an average of $1,369 in 11 theaters. The Church was the widest limited release of the week, but it only managed an average of $1,081 in just over 250 theaters. India’s Most Wanted struggled even more with an average of just $894 in 110 theaters.
