September 13, 2016
A trio of films reached the $10,000 club on the theater average chart this week, lead by Cameraperson with $12,760 in one theater. The Last Princess was also playing in one theater and was right behind with $11,607. The final film in the $10,000 club was Kicks with an average of $10,704 in three theaters.
It was a busy week for new limited releases, but only a couple of them did well. Dancer was the best of the rest earning an estimated $7,000 in one theater, while The Carer was the only other one above $5,000 earning $5,102, also in one theater. Come What May was close behind with an average of $4,869 in two theaters. Author: The JT LeRoy Story and Demon had nearly identical averages of $4,683 in five theaters and $4,520 in three theaters respectively. Baar Baar Dekho had the widest limited release of the week playing in just under 150 theaters earning an average of $4,194 in the process. As I Open My Eyes was less than the cost of one ticket behind with $4,189 in one theater. Other People struggled with an average of $3,083 in twelve theaters, but it was playing on Video on Demand, so this is not a surprising result. Finally we get to The Map Against the World, which avoided the Mendoza Line with an average of $2,491 in four theaters.
