Dawn to the Rescue of the Per Theater Chart

July 10, 2007

Rescue Dawn was the top draw on the per theater chart this weekend, earning an average of $18,388 in 6 theaters over the weekend and $27,979 since Wednesday. The overall box office champ, The Transformers, placed a very close second with $17,577. The re-release of Le Doulos grew by 10.51% to $10,346 in its lone theater and made it into the $10,000 club.

Another re-release, City Lights, was the best of the rest earning $9,102 during the weekend in its one theater. Introducing the Dwights would have earned a spot in the $10,000 club had it earned its 5-day start of $43,085 over the weekend, but it had to settle for a three-day average of $6,934 in four theaters. The Method started poorly with an average of just $1,704 in two theaters while Dynamite Warrior earned less than that in total with $1,082 in 3 theaters for an average of $361.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Paris, Je T'Aime reached $4 million over the weekend, and, while it has peaked, $5 million is still within reach.
  • Once made it to $4 million since last weekend and is about a week away from $5 million.
  • Sicko shot up to $10 million, an impressive total for a documentary, but perhaps below some people's expectations.
