DVD Sales: Left Behind Out in Front

Left Behind led the new releases on the DVD chart, at least in terms of units sold, with 201,000. Its sales for the week were $2.05 million, giving it third place by that metric. This is not great for a first-run release, but not bad compared to the film's box office. It is also much better than its opening on Blu-ray.
No Good Deed earned second place in both units and sales with 168,000 units and $2.82 million. The Equalizer was third in terms of units with 167,000 units, but first in terms of sales with $3.34 million. Get on Up was softer with an opening of 88,000 units / $1.50 million. Its box office numbers were not good, but I was still hoping for more than this. Guardians of the Galaxy rounded out the top five with 80,000 units / $1.19 million of the week for a total of 2.39 million units / $34.82 million after a month of release.
There were several other new releases to chart this week, including Horns, which managed ninth place with 52,000 units / $512,000. This is a good result, for a limited release. Likewise, Boyhood did well for a limited release with 34,000 units / $608,000. Archer: The Complete Fifth Season opened in 15th place with 31,000 units / $648,000. It's hard to complain about this result, as it is just a cable show. Finally, there's Atlas Shrugged: Who is John Galt?, which landed in 17th place with 30,000 units / $455,000.
