Synopsis

Santino is a circus child. His circus travels the country with its animals and caravans — here today, there tomorrow. Home isn’t a place for him, but his family. This includes not only his parents Angie and Gitano and his brother Giordano, but also countless uncles and aunts, cousins, and especially his great-grandpa Ehe! “Grandpa Ehe” is one of Germany’s last great circus directors and tells Santino wild stories from his long circus life. About the magnificent bull elephant Sahib, his own first steps as a clown, and the “feeling of freedom” that makes all the hardships worth it. On Santino’s 11th birthday, Ehe asks what Santino wants to show in the ring one day. Because he, Santino, also has to contribute something to their community. But how does one find out?
